Brian Hubbell

Painting

Brian's drawing, cartooning and painting began in early childhood, and led to commissioned artwork in his college years. He began showing pen and ink and oil portraits and western paintings in galleries and businesses in central and southern Colorado. Brian became a political cartoonist in college, having fun lampooning then noted politicians: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and others. His cartoons were published in regional periodicals and newspapers.

Actively engaged in Colorado's outdoor life, Brian is an accomplished mountain climber - having scaled 44 of Colorado's fourteen thousand foot peaks, and a number of the Washington and Oregon's major peaks (Rainier, Hood, Adams).

It's no surprise that his love for the outdoors transfers into his primary artistic subjects of western art and landscapes, and in the last decade, seascapes and island themes. He and his family also share a deep love and attachment to Maui and the Hawaiian islands.

Brian enjoys realism and impressionism with a flair for color. His primary medium of choice is oil on canvas. Brian is known for large, breathtaking landscape and seascape paintings.

He has shown in a number of Maui Galleries and is currently showing oil paintings in Vail and Littleton, Colorado. He is also showing seascape paintings at Trestles Restaurant on W. Happy Canyon Road, near Castle Pines, CO.

Most of Brian's current time is spent on commissioned artwork. If you have an interest in a commissioned painting or if you would just like to ask him a question, please contact him at: [email protected] or call him at (509) 220-0768. He'd love to hear from you and "talk art".
