Christa MacFarlane finds inspiration for her acrylic paintings on her daily walks throughout the fields and trails of Colorado. Noticing the tiniest details and appreciating the beauty of these natural gems that surround her “hits close to home”—who she is and where she lives. Native Colorado plants often represent a message or story reflecting her life, philosophy on life, or a snapshot of life itself. Adding symbolism and recognition to otherwise overlooked parts of nature intrigues her. Although the subject matter that she paints is often made up of the ordinary, it certainly challenges her to find a deeper meaning, which drives her to make a statement.
