Geraldine Arata
Oils & Mixed Media
Geraldine Arata is a fourth-generation San Franciscan whose vibrant, expressive work explores the rich tapestry of human experience through bold color and narrative-driven imagery. Deeply influenced by her artistic lineage, especially her mother, an artist who passed away when Geraldine was just 11, her art continues that early connection through a lifelong passion for storytelling on canvas.
Her paintings reflect a vivid array of themes, from the spirit of New Orleans to whimsical sea creatures and noble portraits of Native Americans. Working primarily in oils, Geraldine also embraces mixed media, incorporating resins and foils in her recent work to expand the depth and dimensionality of her pieces.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Geraldine holds a BFA from San Francisco State University and an MFA from the Academy of Art University, where she studied under renowned artists including William Maughan, Zhaoming Wu, and Tomutsu Takishima. Her award-winning art has been featured in galleries across the U.S., with collectors ranging from private patrons to executive chef Andrea Froncillo of Bobo’s Steakhouse in San Francisco, which displays over a dozen of her Carnival-themed paintings.
Through her art, Geraldine invites viewers to celebrate emotion, movement, and the enduring joy of human expression.Instagram: @geriaratagallery
