About the Roxborough Arts Council (RAC)

The RAC is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization founded in 2007. Our mission is to enrich the lives in our community by bringing artists and others together.

Funded by membership, grants, and donations, RAC supports our mission through the ROX Arts Gallery by offering venues for artists to exhibit their works and forums for them to share information and receive feedback for artistic growth. We offer art classes for the public and our artists host free monthly receptions in the gallery. We also organize the placement of public sculpture through Art Encounters, conduct art shows outside the gallery, and sponsor annual projects fostering art creatives and art appreciation in our community. Joining the gallery is taking part in our RAC mission.

How We Operate

We manage our gallery as a volunteer team led by the RAC Board and ask our artists to participate in our operational activities. Our success is due to our artists fostering our gallery community. We value connecting our network of artists with patrons of the arts.

Our Intent for the Gallery

We aim to offer high quality original art with a broad diversity in styles, mediums, and techniques at varied price points, created by artists who are actively producing new work.

Jury Criteria

• Quality, originality, and consistency in creating new artworks
• Consideration of technique, medium, supplies used, and subject or style
• Gallery quality presentation
• Sufficient body of work suitable for family viewing
• We do not consider art created solely using AI as original art

Our jurors review all information you send with consideration for how your artwork will enhance the diversity of what we are currently showing in the gallery.

On occasion, the jury committee may request additional images, further information, or clarification to ensure an accurate evaluation. Applicants submitting digital artwork may also be asked to complete an additional questionnaire prior to a final jury decision.

Requirements to Join

• Non refundable jury fee of $25.00. Please pay prior to submitting your information and images.
• If you have shown in the gallery within the past year and are a RAC member in good standing, the $25 jury fee is not required. We still require JPEGs of the current art you intend to show.
• Your jury fee can be applied toward your first year’s RAC membership dues of $50.00. Membership is required to show in the gallery.
• Agree to work three gallery sessions per month. Each session is 4.5 hours. Scheduling may limit day choices.
• Gallery space rent ranges from $45 to $95 per month depending on space size. The first three months’ rent is due at installation.
• 15% commission on sales of artwork.
• Initial three month commitment required, with a 30 day notice if leaving.

How to Submit Your Application

1. Prepare a brief description of your involvement in the arts, your process, and other details about your art. Include a link to your website or other publications.
2. Attach eight digital images (JPEG) of the current work you intend to show in the gallery.
3. Email your materials to the jury chairperson using the Submit Application button after paying your jury fee.

Your submission will be forwarded to the jury team. If jurors ask for additional information, our typical two week reply window may be delayed while the review continues. Thank you for your patience during a thorough and fair process.

After Acceptance

If accepted by the jury team, you will be contacted by the gallery manager and scheduled for an in person interview. When requirements are met, you will be offered a space in the gallery if available, or with your permission, added to our artist waiting list.

If Not Selected

If your art is not selected, you may re apply within 9 to 12 months. No additional jury fee is required. Please submit eight new JPEGs of your current artwork with that email submission.
